Halloween Paper Clip Art - Tutorial

Hello !

This will probably be (never know when the crafty bug bites...) my last Halloween post. It's about a very quick and easy but yet very cute project with paper clips. I just discovered the paper clip art tendency a few days ago in a french scrapbooking magazine (didn't know it was trendy), and I thought I should give it a try... So that's what I made :

Here is the list of materials I used, I will explain how I did them after it :

- paper clips (mini hanger antique silver, others) by Canvas Corp
- Spooky diamonds on kraft from the Haunt it papers by Canvas Corp
- Haunt it sampler on white paper by Canvas Corp
- canvas sheet (in orange and cappucino) by Canvas Corp
- Wicked Gypsy Halloween charms by 7Gypsies
- black High Impact paint by Tattered Angels
- fabric glue
- Fall mini clothespins by Canvas Corp
- Walnut stain distress ink by Ranger

Let's start...Cut a strip of orange canvas sheet to fit the width of the paper clip. Cut the image you want to use (mine was from the Haunt it sampler)

Distress the edge of the image with scissor and ink.

Cut a strip of candy corn border and adhere it on the orange canvas. Place a yellow clothespin on the image and glue them on the top of it. You've done the first one !

For the next one, cut a strip of orange and black diamond paper at the size of the paper clip. I choose to cut out the witch shoes image. Distress the edges of the paper.

Paint a broom charm with black paint.

Cut out the journaling of the image, plus an rectangle in orange paper. Distress them. Assemble your clip tag.

You can make smaller project depending of the size of your paper clip. This one is made with a smaller size of clip, using a spider charm and bit of paper and canvas.

They are really cute tiny things ! You can use them on layout, as bookmark, decorations, or just collect them !

Have a great week end and a scary Halloween !

Few more days before Halloween, so you still have time to be crafty !
What about a tiny card ?

I used paper from the Haunt it collection by Canvas Corp (Spooky Diamonds), black  and orange cardstock, along with a black canvas flower, bits of orange burlap sheet and a spider charm painted with white high impact paint.

Stay tune for some Halloween paper clip art tomorrow...

Make your own Christmas card : a CCB challenge

I know, I know... Halloween is not behind us yet we have to start on our Christmas everything !
This year, my early start will be with a card I made for the Canvas Corp Brands Crew challenge, asking us to make our own Christmas card.
I have made a lot of Christmas cards these past years, but I find another new design for this challenge :

List of materials :

- Santa's Journey paper pad (7Gypsies)
- Gold glimmer mist (Tattered Angels)
- Tattered Leather glimmer mist (Tattered Angels)
- Olive vine glimmer mist (Tattered Angels)
- acrylic stamp (Spellbinders)
- Copper embossing powder (Ranger)
- ribbon (Recollections)
- Walnut stain distress ink (Ranger)
- Poinsettias (I Am Roses)
- flourish die (Sizzix)

Come take a look at all the beautiful cards made by our Crew, and don't forget, it's never too early to start on your Christmas things...

Prima BAP October challenge

It's not easy to be creative with a limited stock (you know that Prima's challenge should be 90% of their products and they are hard to find where I live...), but this month's sketch inspired me so I had to.

2015-September-BAP-riikka

Here is my layout :

I started with building the background : I applied walnut stain distress ink (Ranger) on the edges over a mask (Prima) on a Ledger paper (Prima). I embossed with Antiquities pink powder (Ranger) a coffee stains stamped pattern (Prima), and sprayed Tattered Leather glimmer mist (by Tattered Angels) and let run the ink on both sides of the page.I adhered plum microbeads (Prima)  along the running ink to finish the background.

I made the small frame with Martha Stewart mold and air dry clay (love the Prima one but haven't any handy) and colored them with the glimmer mist. I fussy cut the roses from a paper of the Second Wind collection (Prima), and added the word "sweet" (Heidi Swapp) to complete my layout.

So I'm not sure I have the 90% required, but at least I tried...
I hope you like the result !
See you soon...

CCB Mini album Halloween

Hi crafters !

Today I want to show you a mini album I created for Halloween with Canvas Corp papers and my Cricut with the Mini Books cartridge. You will find this project featured on the Canvas Corp Brands blog with all the details on how create it !

I used the Haunt it collection from Canvas Corp for the base and the embellishments who are cut from a sheet of paper.
I took these pictures several years ago, when we were living in Houston, Tx. We went trick-or-treat with friends at night before the party.

I choose a matchbook cut into the Mini Books cartridge, and distress all the edges of the book before assembling it.

I just resized the pictures to 2"3/4 squares to fit the album. As I printed them at home with my Selphy, I was able to fit two pictures in one sheet. I matted them with orange paper.

Materials :

- Haunt it : Halloween on kraft
- Haunt it : Tags on kraft
- Haunt it : orange and black diamonds on kraft
- Haunt it : sampler on white
- Haunt it : Halloween masks on kraft
- Solid orange on white paper
- black cardstock
- marmelade distress ink (Ranger)
- walnut stain distress ink (Ranger)
- Cricut Expression
- Mini books cartridge

You will find a lot of great Halloween projects from the Creative Crew all along October, so don't hesitate to stop by to take a look !

Have a great day !

Mixed media canvas

Before hiding under my comforter for the week end, I wanted to share a mixed media canvas I made a while ago that I couldn't share until now because it was published in the July issue of Scrap n' Art magazine... Here it is now :

I called it 3L (Live, Laugh, Love) and used the above materials :

- small canvas panel (5x7)
- Indigo Blue stamps
- Black Tuxedo Memento ink
- Prima Marketing stamp
- broken jewelry
- metal embellishments
- glimmer mists by Tattered Angels (Party Pink, Sun Sisters)
- distress ink by Tim Holtz (Vintage Photo, Spice Marmelade, Picked Rasperry)
- gesso
- gold microbeads
- Glossy Accents by Ranger
- old book page

Now a closer look... The yellow embellishment is a broken part of jewelry spray with mist :

These metal parts were overed with gesso and misted. I apply microbeads on them :

I added texture onto gesso with an acrylic stamp :

I hope you will have a great crafty week end. I will enjoy Fall cooking for myself, with pumpkin, "citre" (a very hard squash you can make jam with) and a crate of apples...

See ya !

October Scrap Around the World layout

Scrap Around The World blog has a great moodboard this month, with vibrant colors as I like :

It inspired me to create this layout about the Blue Mosque in Istanbul :

As you can see, I use a stencil (TCW) with a dark blue pen (faber-Castell) to spice up the red paper from the Old World stack (DCWV). I distress the edges with Black sooth distress ink (Ranger), and add Gold Mine and Buddy Muddy Texturez paste (Shimmerz Paints) over stencils (TCW).
The blue border was cut from an Old World paper (DCWV) with a Sizzix die.

I fussy cut the picture, and mat it with a light yellow paper (Luxury stack by DCWV) that I mist with  Gold glimmer mist (Tattered Angels), and different washi tapes (Tim Holtz, We R Memory Keepers).
I let run some Black Magic glimmer mist (Tattered Angels) along the washi tapes, and mist Gold glimmer mist all over the layout.
The title was cut from the same paper than the border.

It was a lot of work (especially stenciling with pen...), but I love the result ! I hpe you like it too...

See you soon !

October card sketch by DCWV

Gold is the color of the year (is gold a color ? If not it should be). We have seen gold everywhere, sometimes too much... But in the Harvest House stack, it's all about small touches of gold matching perfectly the Fall colors. I found it very elegant and decided to use this stack to create my new card for the DCWV challenge :

Once again, only papers here, I just added gold lines to the leaves to match the rest of the card with a gold gel pen.

You can now play with the sketch on the DCWV blog :

Have a great day !

October DCWV layout challenge

Who's ready for some fussy cutting ? When I saw the flowery blue paper of the Marquee Premium stack I've received in my DT box, I couldn't resist and did grab my cutter... Papers is all I used in this layout :

I left the roses as they were, but drawn white lines into the leaves to make the cuts pop a little more.

Here is the sketch from the DCWV blog

You can play until the end of October with this sketch and try to win some goodies...

See you for the card sketch,,,

Time for (Breast Cancer) Awareness : an altered clock

Hello Beauties !

October is the Breast Cancer Awareness month. I think we all know someone, family, friend, co-worker... who has fought or is still fighting breast cancer. I do know. And I'm very proud of these great fighters !
The most important reason in winning this battle is to be aware of it. So should you be a very young or more mature women, you could self-exam your breasts to spot any change. Follow this link for recommendations about the 5 steps of self-exam by breastcancer.org.

To show and share our commitment to fighting this disease, the Canvas Corp Brands Creative Crew has created many beautiful pink projects. Mine was an pink altered clock, called "Time for Awareness" by our coordinator (I think it's a perfect title).

List of materials :

- Party Pink glimmer mist (TA)
- Wedding pink glimmer mist (TA)
- Baby Santa glimmer mist (TA)
- Lille 6x6 paper pad (7Gypsies)
- Lille paper tapes (7Gypsies)
- Global paper tapes (7Gypsies)
- Screen Prints - Grand-Scale Clear Stamps - Timeless Romance
- Vintage photo distress ink
- paper flowers
- Mod Podge
- Clear granulate gel medium

The clock was white at the beginning...

A lot of decoupage, misting, and as you can see, gel medium spraying. This granulated gel medium has a fantastic effect with mist !
I sprayed the inside of the clock and find the perfect stamp for it !

Don't forget to check all the great projects of the Crew. I wish it could inspire you to create a card, a layout, or whatever you want to spread the awareness !

October, 1st layout for Stuck?! Sketch blog

Here it is ! My first contribution to the Stuck?! Sketch blog !

We have a great sketch this  month, as well as two fabulous sponsors for this challenge :

Heartfelt Creations will offer a $25 gift certificate to their online store

will offer one year subscription to one lucky winner

A third winner will be picked for a spot as guest designer for Stuck?!Sketch !

So here is the sketch :

And this is how I interpreted it :

Of course, flowers and bright colors... I kept the directions given by the chevron pattern, and turned it into a banner. Except the ribbon, everything came from the Coral and Navy stack by DCWV. And this time, I didn't cut the flowers...

Please stop by the Stuck?! Sketch blog to see all the DT's beautiful layouts and upload yours to enter the giveway !
